The Institutes

The seven French Institutes for Advanced Study of Aix Marseille, Cergy, Loire Valley (Orléans-Tours), Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, and Paris teamed up to propose a unified and simplified entry point to their much-coveted scientific residencies.

Fellows apply through a centralized application tool and are preselected by the FIAS Selection Committee. The seven IAS are open to all disciplines in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Institutes are immersed in France’s major research and higher education basins. They are all committed, through scientific accompaniment and mentoring schemes, to translate the outstanding richness and diversity of their research communities into as many collaboration opportunities for the fellows.

IAS are renowned for providing outstanding working conditions and research facilities. They have their own working facilities (offices, meeting rooms, conference rooms) at prestigious locations.

Considering the research potential of each local academic environment and/or the scientific priorities of the Institute, the IAS may wish to attract applications in specific research fields. Please check the dedicated pages that present the seven IAS for more information.
